Data columns

Overview

Data columns help you manage the data attributes for each customer profile.

These serve to connect the data from fields to your customers, allowing us to reliably perform advanced actions such as filtering, formatting and importing data.

The data columns are created automatically when adding fields in the app’s form builder, and it is the tool that allows you to store customer data after the form is submitted.

Column types

  1. Standard data columns are used for all of the standard customer fields in Shopify, such as a customer’s first name, last name, email address, phone number, and default address.
  2. Custom data columns are used for any custom customer fields you want to add such as a customer’s gender, birthday, message,…

The table includes 3 attributes as below:

  1. Label
  2. Key
  3. Type

Data types

Here’s an overview of the different data types that are currently available in the app:

  1. single_line_text – strings of text (single line only; no line breaks)
  2. text – complex strings of text with multiple lines
  3. integer –  whole numbers
  4. float – numbers that contain decimals
  5. boolean – true/false values
  6. date –  dates (without time of day)
  7. datetime – dates (with time of day)
  8. email – email addresses
  9. phone –  phone numbers
  10. file –  file uploads
  11. list – store multiple values in a single row (also known as an array)

Manage your data columns

Add Columns

Note: Only the Additional column can be removed or added.

  1. From the app admin page, click Settings > Data Columns
  2. In Addtional columns tab, click Add columns 
  3. Enter the 3 attributes of a column:  Label, Key, and Type > click Done
  4. Click Remove column button

Remove column(s)

Note: Only the Additional column can be removed or added.

  1. From the app admin page, click Settings > Data Columns
  2. In Addtional columns tab, tick on the checkbox of the attribute you want to remove
  3. Click Remove column button
